Advantage II and K9 Advantix II are both trusted spot on topicals used for treating fleas, produced by the same manufacturer, Bayer.
These are both monthly applications that eliminate flea infestations by killing fleas at all life stages (adult, egg, and larvae) and thereby breaking the breeding cycle. These topical treatments are not absorbed into the bloodstream, so fleas are killed before they bite.
Advantix II contains an additional active ingredient (Permethrin), that also provides protection against disease-carrying ticks and mosquitos.
The other key difference between these topicals is that Advantage II is available for both dogs and cats, while K9 Advantix II is a canine-only formula.
Advantage II may be used on dogs as young as 7 weeks and cats from 8 weeks of age. Advantix II is suitable for dogs as young as 7 weeks. Please ensure that you have the correct product for your pet’s body weight.
